Sound interpretation

'Camino en el mundo aleatorio… “and welcome others’ [words] to their final home' is an improvisational poetry walk piece created for the project ALL IS THERE TO SEE in collaboration with composer Riccardo Massari Spiritini. 

Several other elements such as postcards and time-lapse videos are part of this project.  

Espectros (2020) 

Reading #1. 

Spectra is the first in a series of readings presented by a disembodied voice. The text read is about the encounter of two lovers interrupted by the police at the cabin where they have locked themselves up for a romantic weekend in Camarioca. Before opening the door, they try to straighten the room and try to get rid of the objects that may implicate them. The officers have come to take the lovers to the Police Station.

is my collaboration piece with Leithal Music. It is our sound interpretation of a trip from home to work to the university and from there back home using the NYC subway system for a year. "New York Underground" was first released in 2015 and published in the anthology, Los Topos Mecánicos (Ed. Igneo, 2018).  

Sana Rabia es el texto que acompaña las fotografías que documentan las intervenciones poéticas de JHB en La Habana en 2018. La lectura en vivo de la autora acompañó el video del mismo nombre para la apertura de la serie  literaria Palabra Imagen y Escena (Terraza 7, 2023).

Sound mixed by Brian Buchanan consisted of live recording of my mother singing religious chants in her kitchen, bits from experimental Cuban Classic films from the 60's ('Nosotros la música' Rogelio Paris 1963) y 'Y... tenemos sabor' (Sara Gómez 1967) and Cuban documentaries and short films from the 80's by Enrique Colina. The classic bolero son 'Esa maldita pared' (Roberto Angleró) interpreted by Ileana Cabra was added to the final soundscape for Maldita pared interactive wall.

"Música de archivo" It was built originally for an installation that consisted of two cabinets that contain two different narratives. One was the "narrative of the nation" and the other one the "personal narrative".
