Poesía Basura (2014-2020)  es un diálogo con una frase de la artista visual Moyra Davey (“I want to make some photographs, but I want them to take seed in words”) y mi deseo por explorar otras plataformas para mi escritura la cual quería documentar en la calle. Conforman el proyecto Poesía Basura los textos que escribí para los objetos que fui encontrando en el vecindario donde me mudé hace ya varios años, en Queens. El primer poema lo idee para un pedido que me hizo el escritor Manuel Adrián López a colaborar en una antología de Poesía Queer de Nueva York. A partir de ahí escribí varios poemas para los objetos que los vecinos de mi cuadra desecharon al ser desplazados por la gentrificación del área. 

El proceso fue bastante espontáneo y consistía en encontrar el objeto, escribir un poema para el objeto, imprimirlo en pegatinas, regresar al objeto con la esperanza de que aún estuviera allí, y tomar la foto del poema en el objeto y del objeto en su ambiente. Algunas de las imágenes de Poesía Basura fueron proyectadas en el espacio Alchemical Theater, para el evento Voces de la Ciudad de junio 2015, organizado por la escritora Ely Rosa Zamora y otras se proyectaron durante el maratón de apertura The Americas Poetry Festival of New York 2016, organizado por los escritores Yrene Santos y Carlos Aguasaco. Parte del proyecto fue publicado en la revista neoyorquina Hybrido Magazine (2018) y en Enclave. Revista de creación en español (No. 6, Primavera 2017). 

En 2019, las fotografías que documentan la ubicación de algunos de los poemas del proyecto, junto a otros textos escritos directamente en objetos encontrados  y en áreas abandonadas en Nueva York, Chicago, La Habana y Ciudad México conformaron el libro I Want You. La edición limitada de este foto-libro se realizó para el Festival del Carro Arte organizado por la organización de base SEQAA en el verano de 2019.

Contested Territory: Poesía Rematriada is an urban-intervention, street poetry project centered around the Cuban repatriation process I undertook, at my mother's request, beginning in the summer of 2018. Contested Territory: Poesía Rematriada consists of my “repatriating” two poems I wrote in my present home in Queens, New York, to Havana (my birthplace and home until 1999) and pasting them in abandoned places that are integral to my memories of being a queer, homeless artist in Havana during the late 1990s. Each intervention questions ownership of space and my efforts to claim them.

All Is There to See is the second iteration of a series of multimodal readings first presented in the South East Queens Biennial (February 2020) titled Apagones Series / Blackout Series. This second iteration consists of four tracks (cuatro caminos para recurridos de estilo) of spoken word, sound interpretation and improvisation with composer and interpreter Riccardo Massari Spiritini. El primer recurrido de estilo or the first track  <<Camino en el mundo aleatorio "...and welcome others' [words] to their final home">>  will be release on April 26, 2021, for the Artists talk and virtual opening exhibition coproduced by Lewis Latimer House Museum + African Voices! 

All Is There to See also contains photographs I took in Forest Park, Queens during the first 8-9 months of the COVID pandemic lockdown in New York City. I designed postcards with those photographs and mailed them to old and new friends and colleagues which allowed me to connect with them during these distanced times. The idea started with my reflection on our relationships to each other coupled with how problematic uses and distribution of space/time can be. In Forest Park, I walked to release tension, and also improvised poetry during those walks: “hablaba como loca”. Or I walked while listening to Suzanne Simard’s podcast about underground collaborations among trees. I found a special place to connect with my orisha, Ogún: “¡Oke Ogún! ¡Ogún Kobú Aguanilé!” And while I walked and photographed and talked out loud, once I was seen by lovers who met in secret places por los vericuetos de los senderos más delgados del parque and now, me veían escucharles doblemente temerosos detrás de sus mascarillas. 

I was photographing, recording, meditating while walking on trails in Forest Park that were Rockaway and Lenape territory until 1635 and thinking about the “Trail of Tears” in the 1830’s and the “Indian Removal” that still prevails in other forms of disenfranchisement and cultural annihilation in these United States.

· 50 (4x6 inches) color postcards designed, dedicated and sent by the artist using USPS mail delivery system since November 2020. (Follow postings of postcards already received on Instagram: @camioneera)

· Links to sound compositions and improvisational poetry walks (Recurridos de estilo) and links to a map showing the places where the photographs were taken (under construction, looking for collaboration and support!).

Writing in Situ (Manifesto Manifiesto) is a Series of time specific interactive performances where the artist types her manifesto building the elusive “Lesbian Landscape of the Cuban 90s.”

Writing In Situ (Manifesto Manifiesto): Investigates the intersection between art and life, space and performance through the act of interrupted writing during the hours of creative work in the gallery space at Flushing Town Hall for the exhibition by the SeQAA collective  Alchemy: The process of time and change.
