VIAJE EN ALMENDRóN. Touring Havana in a 10 pesos Cuban sedan (Hardcover 110pp).
In a sequence of three trips taken during my 2013 summer visit to my native city of Havana, I photographed what was there from the back seat of a 1950s American Sedan cab. The photographs taken from this 10-Cuban-pesos taxi (called Almendrón because of the shape of the car resemblance with an almond) are superimposed on pages torn from my published novel Mujeres sin Trama, in which I fictionalize some places and situations I experienced in late 1990s Havana. Upon these self-narrations, I printed a sequence of 232 photographs (one on each page of the novel), taken in automatic setting through the cab window, in order to explore reading and question how we process and access information.
This is a hardcover artist's copy (8 1/2 x10) created from the original installation accordion book commissioned for the exhibition In Situ. Women in Place (Miller Gallery, JCAL 2014).
